Aashna House, Streatham Vale

Aashna House is a safe, friendly, modern and comfortable home for frail, senior Asians.

The scheme is home to nearly 40 people, with 31 single and three double rooms, all en suite.

Opened in 1993, it is the UK’s first purpose-built care home for Asian elders.

High Worple, Harrow

High Worple is a registered care home, specially designed for Asian adults with learning difficulties.

It promotes residents’ independence by working in partnership with them, their relatives, and other agencies.

Staff are available day and night to provide assistance in all areas. They are responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home.

High Worple:

• provides housing and care  services for up to five people with learning difficulties
• provides a culturally sensitive service according to residents’ needs, which recognises their individuality and religious, family, and cultural diversity
• enables people with learning difficulties to live in the community and participate in community activities
• provides personalised care to residents, while respecting their rights
• enables residents to learn new skills so that they can lead independent lives

 Anand Day Centre, Whetstone

Anand Day Centre is a lively, friendly and comfortable day centre for older Asian people.

It is open three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-3pm.

The centre offers another ‘family’ for people living alone or with little immediate support, where they can be welcomed, meet friends and enjoy a good quality of life.  (‘Anand’ means ‘joy’).

At Anand Day Centre, elders are treated with dignity, receive support when needed, and have the opportunity to maintain or increase their independence.
