We are required by law to carry out an annual gas safety check and service on all gas appliances and flues in your home. You’ll then be given a valid gas safety record to sign.
It’s very important you allow our engineer access to carry out this check each year, which is for your benefit, safety and well-being.
If we can’t get in, we will need to take legal action to gain access, and you would be charged for the cost involved. We don’t want this to happen, so please ensure you are available to let an engineer in.

Suspected gas leak
If you smell gas or suspect a gas leak:
- Call Transco on 0800 111 999
- Open all doors and windows
- Do not operate any electrical switches (either ON or OFF)
- Turn off the gas meter
- Avoid using any electrical appliances, switches or sockets
